Malaysian Films of 2016: THE KID FROM THE BIG APPLE

After I watched the Malaysian film called 'The Journey' two years ago, I have changed my perspective towards local film. The standard of the films which produced in Malaysia has improved a lot nowadays. The reason why I love local film is it is inspiring and there are moral values and important life lessons in the film which is so realistic and we will definitely get inspired after we watched it. I was really excited at the moment I knew that there was a local film which is called 'The Kid From The Big Apple' is going to be screened in theaters. 'The Kid From The Big Apple' tells the story of a little girl from New York by the name of Sarah Lin whose mother is a single mother. She’s all dandy in New York but one day, her mother had a little work crisis in China and had to send Sarah to her estranged grandfather who is living in Malaysia until the problems resolves. Naturally, being well settled in New York, Sarah rebelled against the decision and all hell breaks loose when she was sent to her grandfather.

There’s language barrier between the granddaughter-grandfather, culture shock, generation gap and many more. The movie is not only fun but is packed with moral values that kids these days could possibly learn. A forewarning, though. This movie is both laughter inducing and at the same time, an effective tearjerker.

There’s plenty of heartwarming and touching scene that will most probably tickle your funny bones but at the same time, make you sob your head off.

Sarah found a moments in her life that she will remember forever which is meeting new friends and lives happily together.

Sarah also find more loves in her life with her true families and friends. She discover her culture, her family history and identity and feel so happy with it.

This movie is really heart warming and touched most of the audience's heart. It is a story about love, family bonding, respect, tradition and culture. We must not forget our tradition even if we live far away from our country and we must respect the elderly.
